On 5 October 2010, Ad Buijing can be seen in the KRO program Goudmijn. In it he tells his story about the life he has with the LVAD. Ad is transplanted shortly after the recording of this program.

In April 2010, it is announced that an LVAD from Heartware was implanted at Andrew Ames on Boxing Day 2009. This made him the youngest ever receiver of an LVAD. In July 2010, Andrew has a heart transplant  undergo.

January 2010 FDA clears Thoratec's HeartMate II LVAD for implantation as destination therapy. This gives the green light from America for the LVAD as a treatment for heart failure.
